What makes any one life more important than another?

Let’s think about the Queen for a minute… How did she become Queen? It wasn’t through any merit of her own, but simply that she was born into a family which made her eligible for this position. She can’t leave the house without being surrounded by security – buildings are checked before she enters, countless troops patrol the streets when she makes a public appearance, and she has men patrolling outside her house 24 hours a day, every single day of the year. And any of these guards would give their life to keep her safe… But why? Why is her life any more significant than another? Why is it that she should be spared, and another take a bullet in her place? Why is it that she is worth saving any more than the next person?
It’s not because she deserves it – she did not earn her position as Queen; but simply because she was born into the royal family.
Is that luck? Chance? Good fortune?

And what about the President? His security detail is the best of the best (not as good as The Unit though!), and every man there puts his life in jeopardy, daily, for the safety of 1 man.
Why?
Why are these individuals any more important, any more worth saving, than this lady?

There's some things I just don't get.

God has created believers like us in the Salvation Army to stand up for those who have no voice. It is not always easy but a must.
Grace to you.
